History of the festival

Ung Nordisk Music (Young Nordic Music) was first held in 1946 and is one of the oldest and most important new music festivals in the Nordic countries. Renowned Nordic composers and musicians have organized the festival throughout the years and made their countries music heard.

This year’s festival

Ung Nordisk Musik will be held this year from September 20th to September 25th. Altogether 36 composers from the five Nordic countries have been chosen to the festival. Each country assembles their own jury, which selects 7 compositions to represent their country (8 compositions from the organizing country). The composers are present at the festival collaborating with the performers, giving lectures and participating in seminars.
