Ung Nordisk Musik 2010 Helsinki: COLLISION!
Collisions. Collisions of musical materials, different genres and national styles. What happens when music by young composers from the five Nordic countries is heard in the same concert? What happens when 36 composers with such different backgrounds compose an ensemble piece together? Enthralling series of collisions created by such diverse artistic extremes is something you won't find among festivals of domestic level. Endless possibilities that young composers bravely bring into their works include everything from minimal to maximal. Within six days, Avanti! (FI), Uusinta (FI), Ensemble Adapter (DE / IS), Helsinki Chamber Choir (FI) and other specialists of new music perform the most exiting contemporary music at this unique festival that visits Finland every five years. Seize the opportunity, collide with the unknown and find yourself at the center of the sound of the future!

Ung Nordisk Musik is a festival of young Nordic art music. Since 1946 composers under 30, or that are still studying, have gathered to discuss New Music and to perform their works in co-operation with the leading performers of their own countries. The works to be performed have been selected by independent national juries. Music for various combinations—from chamber music to choir, from electroacoustic to sinfonietta—is heard at the festival. Each year, a different Nordic country hosts the festival, and in 2010 it's Finland's turn again.
